September Snapshot: Kenowa Hills Construction Update

Construction at the middle school is nearing completion, while progress on our new softball/baseball complex and practice fields continues to move forward. As students and staff settle into the school year, exciting developments across Kenowa Hills Public Schools are taking shape. Here’s a look at the latest progress.

Kenowa Hills Middle School

Construction projects at Kenowa Hills Middle School have reached the punch list stage. Remodels are now complete in the remaining corridors, STEM rooms, art room, classrooms, extended learning areas, and the cafeteria. The art room received a new HVAC unit, updated lighting, new furniture, and a dedicated storage room. STEM spaces were enhanced with a new computer instruction area and upgrades to the STEM shop, which now includes new furniture, four TV screens, a print room with 3D printers and laser cutters, and a cleaning/finishing room with 45 degree angled lighting designed to eliminate shadows.

In the cafeteria, a snack area was added in a space previously used for table and chair storage. The health room, extended learning areas, and classrooms are also complete and fully furnished. Externally, the building now features new sidewalks for students, including a crosswalk connecting the middle and high schools.

Athletics

The baseball and softball fields are quickly taking shape at this new athletics facility! Curbs and fence posts have been installed to define the outline of the fields. Netting posts and lighting bases are in place to prepare for future play. Masons are putting the finishing touches on the dugouts and press box, bringing these key spaces closer to completion. A new maintenance storage building is also underway to house equipment needed to care for our facilities. With each step, the facility moves closer to becoming a vibrant space for athletes, students, and the entire Kenowa Hills community to enjoy!
