While students were out enjoying the break, crews spent the summer hard at work across Kenowa Hills Public Schools. From athletic buildings nearing the finish line to new early childhood spaces taking shape, here is a look back at all that came together over the past few months.
Early Childhood Center: An Addition Takes Shape
The Early Childhood Center is growing this summer with a new addition, along with updates to the existing building. Crews demolished the south end, then poured the footings and foundation walls for the addition. The addition is dedicated to learning, with classrooms and a large group instruction area, and masonry starts right after Labor Day.
Pictured above: the old building areas have been demoed and the foundation is being poured and set for the new addition wing which will house classrooms and extended learning areas.
Inside the existing space, the underground plumbing wrapped up, and crews moved on to overhead plumbing and electrical rough-ins. When it is all done, the renovated area will hold a new kitchen, a new gang bathroom, a motor skills room, three offices, a teachers lounge, and a mechanical room with a cooler. Behind the scenes, crews rerouted the sanitary line and tied the existing system into the new route.
Teams Rooms Down to the Final Stretch

In the home team room, crews sprayed insulation that is ready for its metal covering, laid carpet with base trim around the room, hung the exterior doors, and cleaners have already moved through the finished space.
Room by room, the building came together over the summer. The freshman and JV rooms took shape, the training room wrapped its tile work, and a coaches office went in. The bathrooms connecting the JV and Freshman team rooms should be ready to go for the JV game coming up. The referees even got their own room, complete with a private bathroom and shower!

At the visitor building, crews spent the summer on electrical and plumbing rough-ins and getting water to the building. Drop ceilings go in next, and the building will include restrooms for visiting teams.
Outside, the finishing touches arrived as the season turned. Fencing is going in to restrict access to the active areas, and crews seeded the retention pond area.

The multipurpose field grew from the ground up all summer long. Underground drainage went in, with a score booth set for the center and team shelters and dugouts planned around it. Bleachers with a press box above will give fans a clear view once complete. Next up, the sub base for the turf goes down in the coming weeks to prepare for installation.

Heading Into the New School Year
It was a busy, productive summer at Kenowa Hills, and the progress shows. As students head back to class, these spaces are that much closer to being ready for the athletes, learners, and families who will fill them. We will keep sharing updates as the work continues!
